Stanly County Democratic Party
2025 Annual Convention
In the spring of each year the Stanly County Democratic Party holds it's annual convention. This serves as an opportunity for the community to meet our team, and get involved with democracy in Stanly county. Attendees learn about the current status of the party both for the county, and at a state and national level.
The Stanly County Democratic Party Annual Convention was held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the Magnolia Room of the Atrium Health Stanly Special Events Center in Albemarle, North Carolina.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Daniel Quick with eighty-six (86) in attendance. Kevin Taylor, was Master of Ceremonies of the afternoon events.
The Keynote Speaker was Elaine Marshall, NC Secretary of State, who encouraged each in attendance to share their personal concerns with their elected representatives. Musician Joe Judge shared a medley of protest songs.
During the annual business meeting, the 2025-2027 Stanly County Party Officers were elected: Erin Soto, Chair; Daniel Quick, First Vice-Chair; Gary Moran, Second Vice-Chair; Zina Risley, Third Vice-Chair; and Jo Jo McCoy, Secretary. Barbara Tuset will continue as Treasurer.
Delegates were selected for the 2025 NC 8th Congressional District Convention to be held on May 24, 2025 at Richmond Community College. Tiffany Dahle and Kevin Taylor will serve on the NC 8th Congressional District Executive Committee. Jim Beard and Marcus Christensen will serve on the State Executive Committee. Ron Burris and Joanne Hesley were recommended by the Party to the Stanly County Board of Elections.

The county convention on odd number years elects, from among active Democrats of the county,
the officers of the county executive committee,
the members of the state executive committee,
the delegates to the annual congressional district convention,
two members of the congressional district executive committee,
and conduct any other business related to the affairs of the county party.
